Anniversary

I just realized, close to mid night with February 2nd is nearly over, that today two years ago - February 2, 2008 I moved to New York. Groundhog day is my anniversary with the city that never sleeps.

It snowed that evening as well. The memories of my first very cold night here in New York are still vivid. Getting off the plane with some trepidation and a lot of excitement about my (at least) 3 month adventure in the big city is still a very real sensation despite two year having gone by. That very night out I had my first introduction to this city's nightlife  and sake - Decibel.

Since then I've met many people and been many places. Grown by leaps and bounds, realized my unlimited potential as well as had some of my most incapacitating weaknesses come to light. It's been a busy two years and it seems to be only getting busier.

I still love the city and have the same excitement about it, like I did that first very cold snowy night.

Morning Hours

My favorite time of the day has always been dawn, the time where everything slowly turns from dark to grey, on to shades of the actual object and then finally full color.

It is also the most peaceful time in my day, being able to collect my thoughts and get a calm start to the day. It gives me a chance catch up/reflect on things that were missed the day before in a frenzy of emails, phone calls and just the minutiae of every day existence.
Some times it is just a great time to sit, stare out the window and stretch!

It is also in these morning hours that a complete picture of the impact of actions and consequences comes alive and becomes real. Just as objects becomes more visible with the rising sun, realizations become more permanent as the day becomes brighter.

There is nothing more powerful (for me) than to watch the world take on shape every morning. It gives me a strange sense of strength and being and puts me in the moment every day.

Happy New Year!
